Course Description

This course explores the fundamental processes involved in the design and fabrication of everyday objects, considering factors such as construction, social meaning of objects along with form, comfort and function. Students are introduced to creative techniques to develop insight into human behaviour and explore the idea of human needs. To facilitate this, they will learn how to make prototypes that begin with rapid paper prototyping techniques and later develop into tangible 3D models using 3D modelling, 3D printing and laser cutting techniques. Students will learn how to use CAD software such as Rhino(3D) or Fusion 360 for 3D modelling, along with Adobe Illustrator to generate laser cutting files and Cura as the primary software to 3D print objects.
